Students often describe Journey School as the “Best School Ever.”   When asked about Journey School, here’s what they had to say…

“I don’t like Saturdays and Sundays because I can’t go to school.” ~ Malcolm (K)

“We get smarter without watching TV.” ~ Ulysses (Grade 1)

“We get close to nature and all living things.”  ~ Ronnie (Grade 3)

“We have Lantern Walk. That’s when we share dinner together and walk around campus at night with lanterns made with older buddies. “ ~ Haley (Grade 4 )

“We bake bread and give it to our friends on holidays.” ~ Olivia (Grade 4)

“The camping trip last year was awesome! We got to inner tube down a river and then made our own meals and told stories around a campfire.”  ~ Jasper (Grade 4)

Older students share their younger buddies’ enthusiasm, too….

“We spent the night on the Spirit of Dana Point and learned what it was like to be a sailor. I really acted like one. My group even got to row a boat. I’d never done that before.”  ~ Nick (Grade 5)

“We’re learning about botany. I love to see how plants grow. I also like to touch their textures and to know how they are used. Botany is also exciting because we get to plant our own food with friends from Earthroots.”  ~ Zoe (Grade 5)

“My math teacher, Ms. Gates, is an engineer who helped design the B-2 bomber’s control panel. She’s really nice and knows how to teach math the right way. If you don’t understand, she says ‘let me help you.’ I also love Magnus. He already graduated from Journey and he volunteers to help us learn.”  ~ Sam (Grade 5)

“I love learning about American Geography and History. Ms. Simmons tells really interactive stories about why the early colonists left England. I wasn’t interested in history before, but now that I’m older, I think it’s great.“ ~ Annika (Grade 5)

“My teacher explains things in many different ways until we get it.” ~ Lily (Grade 6)

“We’re a community and learn tons because our teacher knows us well.” ~ Seth and Gavin (Grade 7)

“I’ve learned how to jam on the ukulele with the help of Mr. Todd, who made my learning of music awesome.”  ~ Joshua (Grade 8)

“I’ve been at Journey since Kindergarten and we’re one huge family. It feels perfect.”  ~ Joseph (Grade 8)
