2027–2028 Lottery Application

The Lottery Application window for the 2027–2028 school year opens November 16, 2026, and closes February 24, 2027.

In addition to submitting the online lottery application, families must complete the following requirements for their application to be considered complete.

1. Attend a Mandatory Tour / Information Session

Journey School requires families to attend a tour based on the program for which they are applying:

• Seat-Based Program (Full-Time): Families must attend the Seatbased School Tour (in person)

• Hybrid Independent Study (Part-Time): Families must attend the Independent Study Virtual Information Session.

• Home-Based Independent Study: Families must attend the Virtual Independent Study Virtual Information Session.

Tours and information sessions will be offered beginning in November and continuing through the close of Open Enrollment on February 24, 2027. Families can select and register for the required session directly within the online lottery application.

2. Review the Age Eligibility Guidelines

Journey School has age eligibility requirements that differ from those of many traditional public schools. Please review the age guidelines carefully to determine whether your child is eligible to apply.

3. Read the Parent Partnership Agreements

Families applying to Journey School are asked to review the Parent Partnership Agreements to understand the commitments and expectations of our school community.

4. Upload Your Student’s Immunization Records

Upload your student’s most recent immunization records as part of the online application. All students attending school in California must meet applicable state immunization requirements.

5. Upload Proof of Birth

Upload an acceptable document verifying your student’s date of birth, such as a birth certificate, passport, or hospital record.

6. Upload Proof of Residency

Upload an acceptable document verifying your student’s residential address. Please review the Proof of Residency Guidelines for details about acceptable documentation.
