Amanda Simmons is grateful to continue with her families and students teaching the 5th grade curriculum of states, botany, and greek mythology.

Ms. Simmons has led her students since they crossed the ‘Rainbow Bridge’ from Kindergarten. She now looks forward to guiding them through Fifth Grade.  Below, Ms. Simmons reflects in her own words:

“I am so excited to travel with my students to ancient Greece, India, and Mesopotamia.  Together, we will also explore the natural world through several hands-on botany blocks. I’m especially excited to watch their maturity and cognition develop further. “

Before arriving at Journey, Ms. Simmons was a standout First Grade teacher within the Capistrano Unified School District. Ms. Simmons earned her BA in Liberal Arts from SDSU as well as a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from CSU Fullerton. She also possesses a Single Subject Teaching Credential in English, as well as a Master’s Degree and Administrative Credential in Educational Leadership. Additionally, Ms. Simmons possesses a Teaching Certificate in Waldorf Education from Steiner College, where she will train teachers this coming summer.

Since her arrival at Journey, Ms. Simmons feels that her parents have embraced and supported the class in exceptional ways, “I am so thankful for the parent support since my arrival. It has made a huge difference.”

In her free time, Ms. Simmons loves the company of her husband, family, and friends. She especially likes to go to the beach with her dog, crafting, traveling and reading good books.  Ms. Simmons was raised in Orange County and feels rooted here.
