Alyson Smith

Alyson Smith is thrilled to return to her students following a joyful maternity leave.  Mrs. Smith has a B.A. in Anthropology from UC, San Diego with concentrations in Humanities, Science and Education.  She also holds a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from UC Irvine.  Additionally, Mrs. Smith possesses a Waldorf Teaching Certificate from Steiner College.

Mrs. Smith has worked with children as an educator and coach for more than a dozen years. Prior to coming to Journey School, she was at Olson Elementary School in the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District where she was a standout teacher for a 2nd/3rd grade combo class.

Mrs. Smith is especially passionate about environmental education and equipping students with 21st century skills. She is grateful for teaching such a talented and close group of students.  She also appreciates the commitment of her parents tremendously.  Away from school, Mrs. Smith enjoys spending time with her precious baby, Harrison, her husband, Justin, and their yellow lab, Native. She also finds joy in gardening, walking, and spending quality time with friends.  Mrs. Smith was born and raised in San Clemente.
