Alumnus MillieGOAT–Youngest to Race to in Tour of California–Leads on Gender Equality too

millie-tannerMillie has been selected to race in the 2nd largest race in the world, the Tour of California. She will be the youngest professional racing in a field of about 135 women. The race around the State Capitol is May 11 and will be broadcasted online and TV.

On May 4th, Millie raced in Dana Point for the Dana Point Grand Prix in the Women’s Pro 1/2/3 Field.

On April 27th and 30th, the Newport Beach Film Festival showcased a documentary on women’s cycling called “Half the Road: The Passion, Pitfalls, and Power of Women’s Professional Cycling.

The inequality between men’s and women’s cycling is vast, and includes everything from less prize money for the women to little to no sponsorship opportunity for girls and fewer races. Millie is featured in the movie, and her leadership on gender equality issues makes us extremely proud.
